Ford India has launched the Freestyle – a Figo-based pseudo SUV. The Freestyle is available in 4 variants with introductory prices starting at Rs. 5.09 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs. 6.09 lakh for the base diesel. The Freestyle has a 257-litre boot and 40 / 42-litre fuel tank.
The Freestyle is offered with two engine options. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine makes 95 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 120 Nm of torque @ 4,250 rpm. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit produces 99 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 215 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The suspension has been tuned specifically for this car and features a system called Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) that works in conjunction with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to prevent potential rollover situations.
The Freestyle gets a dual-tone dashboard with a 3-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and 3-pod instrument cluster. The centre console houses a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3, voice control and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Safety features like ABS with EBD, front dual airbags and reverse parking sensors are standard on all variants. Rear view camera and side and curtain airbags are offered on select variants. It comes with features like automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry among others.
