Force Motors India has quietly updated the Gurkha in 2017, which has been launched at prices starting from Rs. 8.38 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is now conforms to BS-IV emission norms. Available in three- and five-door body styles and two variants – Xplorer and Xpedition – The Gurkha Xplorer three-door variant can be opted with either a soft-top or a hard-top with three seating options: 4 + driver, 5 + driver and 7 + driver. On the other hand, the Xpedition five-door variant is available only with a hard top in two seating configurations: 6 + driver and 8 + driver.
The 2017 Gurkha features minor styling changes to the exterior along with a host of new mechanical’s to drive the sales of the Extreme Off-road Vehicle in India. These changes include a new steel bumper with fog lamps, new front grille and revised taillights. The overall design language is identical to the previous model. It comes with all-terrain tyres as standard. On the inside, the updated Gurkha gets a new steering wheel, new gear lever and a manual air conditioning system.
The Gurkha is based on a new ladder-frame chassis, along with a new suspension setup. At the front, the SUV gets new independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar, while at the rear, it comes with a new multi-link setup that also features gas-charged hydraulic shocks and an anti-roll bar.
The 2017 Force Gurkha comes with wheelbase of 2750mm and measures 4342mm in length, 1790mm in width and 2055mm in height. The Force Gurkha has a ground clearance of 190mm
The new Gurkha is a 2.6-litre, common rail diesel engine that develops 84 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque @ 1,400-2,400 rpm. It gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drive system with low range and differential locks at both front and rear axles.
