The Honda WR-V has been launched in India at prices starting from Rs. 7.75 lakhs for the petrol version and Rs. 8.79 lakhs for the diesel. It will be available in two variants only – S and VX. The all new Honda WR-V is developed completely by the Honda R&D India along with the Honda R&D Japan. Moreover, India is the first country to get the all new WR-V. Based on the Honda Jazz platform, the all new WR-V was showcased at the Sao Paolo Auto Show in Brazil last year. The WR-V, which stands for ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’ competes with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
The Honda WR-V is a cross hatch derived from the Jazz. It is powered by the same engine options that are found in the hatchback. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit develops 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and has a company claimed fuel economy of 25.5 km/l. Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 89 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque @ 4,800 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and has a claimed fuel economy of 17.5 km/l.
Honda WR-V comes with safety options like ABS with EBD as well as dual airbags. While other features include a one-touch electric sunroof, cruise control, tilt steering (standard) and a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system, which is the same unit that is found in the recently launched City facelift. Called the Digipad, this infotainment system features satellite-linked navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth telephony, a 1.5 GB internal memory, 2 USB slots, 2 Micro-SD slots and an HDMI port. The system also comes with MirrorLink connectivity. The diesel VX also comes with cruise control and push button start/stop.
It gets a new front fascia, which includes a vertical nose, new bumper, wider front grille and completely redesigned headlamps with standard LED DRLs. The car also comes with larger 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a new tailgate and black plastic cladding on the wheel arches and lower body panels. The WR-V is available with 6 colour options – Modern Steel, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red, Golden Brown, White Orchid and the new shade of Premium Amber.
