Tata Motors is likely to be launched the Nexon AMT in May 2018. The automated manual transmission (AMT) will be available in XZA+ trim with a choice of petrol or diesel engines. The XZA+ variant gets similar features as the XZ+ variant with the manual gearbox.
The standout features include the addition of a 6.5- inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, voice commands, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, electric ORVMs, height adjustable driver seat among others. Tata is also offering a wearable smart key similar to the Land Rover Activity key. And other standard safety features that are offered on the Nexon AMT include ABS with EBD, driver and passenger side airbags, park assist with rear sensors and reverse camera.
The same engine 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 108 BHP and 170 Nm and the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit producing 108 BHP and 260 Nm of torque are being offered with the 6-speed AMT. Like the manual version, the AMT model also has three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. In addition to that, the AMT comes equipped with features like hill assist, creep function, anti-stall and kick-down among others.
