Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has decided to up its ante with the introduction of a new and more rugged version of the Compass in the form of Compass Trailhawk, which indicates that its launch in the coming months, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the new range-topping trim of the Compass and will come with a host of new features and off-road equipment. According to media reports, dealerships have started accepting bookings for the car.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get a dual-tone exterior with a blacked-out roof and ORVMs, dual-tone bumpers with red tow hooks and skid plates, black grille, a black decal on the bonnet and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The upholstery also gets red highlights with leather wrapping all around the gear lever, steering wheel and panels. The touchscreen infotainment system will come equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The SUV Compass Trailhawk will be powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine offered in the regular Compass. This engine puts out 172 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. However, unlike the standard model which comes with the option of a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Compass Trailhawk might be offered with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.4-litre petrol version will get the 6-Speed torque converter.
