Finally Volvo India launched its most affordable SUV- the XC40; priced at Rs. 39.90 Lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in only one variant the R-Design trim.
The SUV-XC40 gets the typically upright Volvo design and makes it ideal for the compact luxury SUV space & equipment such as 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless mobile phone charging, a 750-watt 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Volvo’s 9.0-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered tailgate. It gets the distinctive front grille and rear tail lamps along with the chunky headlamps that have an updated and more stylish version of the Thor’s hammer LED daytime running light with smoked headlamps.
The XC40 comes with black roof with blackened A-pillars which is standard for all colour tones. And it gets 7 airbags with a whole bunch of radar assisted features like- lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, emergency braking, ESP, traction control, hill descent control.
The SUV employs Volvo’s familiar 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel (D4) turbocharged engine – the only power-train on offer – which sends 190hp and 400Nm of torque to all-four-wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The car takes on the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. The Range Rover Evoque, new Lexus NX and a car we still have not got – the Jaguar E-Pace also slot in here.
