Volvo India is set to launch the XC40 on July 2018. Bookings for the first 200 units have already commenced and the token amount has been set at Rs. 5 lakh.
The XC40 will reportedly be offered in a single R-Design trim featuring a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 188 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm, which comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The XC40 is based on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) and will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU). The front fascia of the car looks similar to its larger siblings like the XC60 and XC90. It will compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the likes in the Indian market.
